be intuitive as well as simple to master. The system was written to take into
account a touch screen interface but at the same time supports keyboard and
mouse navigation.
Software upgrades made easy
One of the biggest problems facing
retailers when it comes to software releases is the complexity of software and
database upgrades. With In The Black ™ Retail Suite, upgrades are accomplished
in minutes with no headaches. Also, clients can decide to skip particular
software releases without missing incremental releases when a new release is
installed. A simple application is used to examine the present version of the
system. The appropriate scripts and database updates are executed and the
process is complete
Shortening the return process
The In The Black ™ Retail Suite system
was designed to be efficient and quick when dealing with returns. Returns can
be processed with or without receipts. When processed with a receipt, the
receipt barcode can be scanned and the transaction is instantly retrieved from
the In The Black ™ HQ database, regardless of which store the merchandise was
purchased at. The user would then select the items that are to be returned and
tender out.
One database license per store environment
The In The Black ™ Retail Suite system
was designed to keep the cost down for retailers. Only one database license is
required per store. The registers retrieve data from the Back-Office database
without having to access the database directly. If the Back-Office was to go
down or the network connection lost, the registers would automatically start
working in an off-line state with binary files located on the register’s hard
disk.
Signature capture ready
Charge-back thresholds will be a thing
of the past. All signatures along with the transaction details are
automatically shipped to Head-Office for processing. All charge-back disputes
can be handled from one central location within minutes instead of hours or
days. The client's paper trail is now online.
OPOS compliant peripherals
All specialty retail peripherals and
devices that comply with the Object Linking and Embedding Point-Of-Sale
standard will function with the In The Black ™ Retail Suite system. If a
device is not required, it will not be initialized by the application. The
entire system can be run on a standalone laptop for demo or training purposes.
ODBC compliant database
The In The Black ™ Retail Suite system
was designed to be 100% Object DataBase Connectivity (ODBC) compliant. This
allows the application to work with various SQL databases including MS SQL
Server, Oracle, MS Access, DB2, etc.
Multi-platform certified (NCR, IBM, Wincor-Nixdorf, MRT)
In The Black ™ Retail Suite is hardware
independent. Because of the OPOS and ODBC architecture, as mentioned above,
the applications can function on virtually any PC Based Windows machines. In
The Black ™ Retail Suite has been certified to operate on NCR's RealPOS, IBM's
SurePOS, Fujitsu's TeamPOS, Wincor-Nixdorf's Beetle and Pippard Inc's MRT.
Full sales detail tracking including inventory
The In The Black ™ Retail Suite system
tracks all aspects of a sale transaction including products, taxes, discounts,
tenders and surcharges on a per item basis. Performing returns or voids on
individual items insures complete accuracy because of these item level
details.
Unmatched discount logic
Discounts can be applied to products
automatically via promotional pricing records as well as manually at the POS.
Discounts and promotions can be based on straight percentages or dollar
amounts as well as threshold levels. Automatic employee and client discounts
can also be assigned percentage, dollar and threshold values. These discounts
can be associated to specific departments, classes, styles, sizes, colors,
vendors, SKU's or UPC's.
Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
In The Black ™ Retail Suite is a data
collection tool as well as a Business Intelligence Solution (BIS) that can be
interfaced into other CRM solutions or used with the current CRM tools found
within In The Black ™ Retail Suite. Client data entry is made easy with the
scanning of PDF 417 bar codes on driver’s licenses or swiping the Magnetic
Stripe data on drivers licenses. In The Black ™ Retail Suite also supports
Reverse Appends through Acxiom and TargusInfo allowing client data collection
via telephone numbers. Client credit, debit, checks and house cards can all be
linked to a clients purchase, thus eliminating the need to re-associate a
client to a sale when paid by a previously used tender.
The software suite also supports loyalty programs that let clients earn points
on their purchases that can be used for discounts on future purchases or even
free merchandise. Several loyalty programs can even be running at the same
time.
Value relative to performance
